Mother's Day - The Power Of Waiting

The story of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1:1-20 provides profound insights into how we should approach seasons of waiting in our spiritual journey. Hannah desperately wanted a child but remained barren for years while enduring constant ridicule from Peninnah, her husband's other wife. In a culture where a woman's worth was measured by her ability to bear children, Hannah faced social shame and personal anguish that could have easily led to bitterness.

Instead of allowing her circumstances to destroy her faith, Hannah chose to channel her pain into passionate prayer. Her prayer was so intense that Eli the priest mistook her for being drunk. This wasn't polished, comfortable prayer but raw, honest communication with God that cost her pride and image. Hannah demonstrates that authentic prayer during difficult seasons requires vulnerability and complete surrender to God's will.
