The Twelve - Part 2

What do you do when you bring your biggest questions to God and He responds not with an explanation but with His presence? This message explores the life of Philip, one of Jesus's disciples, and what his journey teaches us about faith, doubt, trust, and following God even when we do not have all the answers.

Drawing from John 1, John 6, and John 14, we look at three defining moments in Philip's story. First, Jesus calls Philip without requiring him to have everything figured out, showing us that God does not wait for perfect understanding before He invites us into relationship. Second, Jesus tests Philip by asking where they can buy bread for a massive crowd, even though He already knows what He is going to do. Philip calculates the cost and concludes it is impossible. But faith begins where our calculations end. Jesus takes five loaves and two fish and feeds thousands, reminding us that He does not need us to bring enough. He just needs us to bring what we have. Third, Philip asks Jesus to show them the Father, and Jesus responds with one of the most powerful statements in all of Scripture. He does not give Philip a map. He gives Philip Himself.

We also look at Nathaniel, whose honest doubt led him to a personal encounter with Jesus. Jesus saw Nathaniel under the fig tree before Philip even called him. He sees the hidden places in your life too, the grief, the struggle, the secret wound you are still carrying. And He is not standing outside your pain asking why you are not over it yet. He sees you.

This message is for anyone who has been waiting for God to answer a question before they take a step of faith. It is for anyone who feels unqualified, overwhelmed, or stuck in the gap between where they are and where God is calling them. You do not need all the answers. You just need to bring what you have and take the next step.

Topics covered include faith and doubt, trusting God in uncertainty, the story of Philip in the Bible, feeding the five thousand, John 14 and the way the truth and the life, how to follow God when you do not have answers, overcoming fear and feeling unqualified, honest doubt versus unbelief, and hearing God's call.

Whether you are new to faith or have been walking with Jesus for years, this message will challenge you to stop measuring your situation against your resources and start looking at who is standing beside you.
