The Seven Feast - Part 1

Oct 11, 2026  •  Pastor Rachel Klinge

What is the Feast of Passover and why does it matter for Christians today? The seven feasts of the Lord found in Leviticus 23 are not simply Jewish traditions or Old Testament history. They are a prophetic and deeply personal story of redemption that points directly to Jesus Christ and speaks into the life of every believer.

Passover is where that story begins. God established it as a memorial of His deliverance of Israel from slavery in Egypt, but He also designed it as a picture of something far greater. Every detail of the Passover lamb was intentional. The lamb had to be without spot or blemish, a direct picture of the sinless perfection of Jesus. The blood had to be applied to the doorposts of each home, because the death of the lamb alone was not enough. It had to be received personally. And the meal had to be eaten in haste, with sandals on and staff in hand, because God was not calling His people to stay. He was calling them to move.

When John the Baptist introduced Jesus to the world, he called Him the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. That was not a coincidence. It was the fulfillment of everything Passover had been pointing to for generations. Jesus is the firstborn of a new creation. He is the spotless sacrifice. And through His blood, every person who receives Him passes from death to life.

But Passover is a beginning, not an end. Israel walked out of Egypt physically, and almost immediately they began to complain at the Red Sea, wishing they had stayed enslaved. The slave mentality was still in their minds even though their feet were free. This is a pattern many believers recognize in their own lives. You can be forgiven and still need transformation. You can leave an old environment and still carry old thinking.

Ephesians 4 calls believers to put off the old self and be renewed in the spirit of the mind. This is not a surface-level adjustment. It is a deep and radical renovation of the governing attitudes of the heart. Salvation is not just justification. It is transformation. God did not send His Son to leave us unchanged. He saved us to bring us out and to bring us forward.

Topics covered include the seven feasts of the Lord, the meaning of Passover for Christians, the Passover lamb and Jesus Christ, how the Exodus points to salvation, the renewal of the mind, breaking free from a slave mentality, and what true transformation looks like after salvation.
