The Cross Changed Everything - Part 2

The Garden of Gethsemane reveals one of history's most profound moments - not because of what happened, but because of what didn't happen. Jesus possessed unlimited power yet chose suffering over self-preservation. From the foundation of the world, the cross was always God's plan for redemption, foreshadowed throughout the Old Testament in Abraham's promise that God would provide a lamb, the Passover sacrifice, and Isaiah's detailed prophecy of the suffering servant.

Jesus demonstrated complete awareness of His purpose throughout His ministry. He knew He would be lifted up through crucifixion and spoke of it openly.

When the temple guards arrived, Jesus didn't hide but stepped forward, asking whom they sought. He chose the cross, praying not my will, but yours be done. This wasn't victimhood but a deliberate, love-driven decision to save humanity rather than Himself.
