His investment in Saul helped shape the apostle who would carry the gospel across the known world. The pattern Barnabas modeled, and that figures like Phoebe carried as well, is the pattern of the early church: spiritual mothers and fathers who build other people rather than building their own ministry. That same calling is available to anyone willing to start with one act of obedience, one word spoken, one person pursued.
